Itinerary
Day-1 : Paro to Thimphu Arrive at Paro International Airport. transfer to Thimphu. After checking into your hotel, proceed for a panoramic sightseeing of the capital of Bhutan which includes the following places of interest Memorial Chorten, Kuensel Phodrang – World’s Largest Sitting Buddha Statue, Takin Reserve & Mini Zoo, BBS Tower – Provides a vantage point view of the Thimpu Valley. Overnight stay in Thimphu.
Day-2 :Thimphu full day sightseeing tour After breakfast, proceed for full day sightseeing tour of Thimphu, which includes the following places of interest Folk Heritage Museum, Royal Textile Academy & Museum, Anim Dratshang (Nunnery), Trashichhodzong – Fortress in Thimphu, Handicrafts Emporium. Overnight stay in Thimphu.
Note – On weekends, guests would also have the opportunity of visiting the weekend market, an interesting market with local items and bargain price handicraft goods.
Day-3 : Thimphu to Punakha After breakfast, proceed toward Punakha (Total 3 hours driving time). Enroute, halt at Dochu La - A mountain pass leading further into the Punakha Valley. It offers a stunning 360 degree panoramic view of Eastern Himalayan mountain ranges. The view is especially scenic on clear, winter days with snowcapped mountains forming a majestic backdrop to the tranquility of the 108 chortens gracing the mountain pass. Enjoy lunch at newly open restaurant Druk Wangyel Cafe and visit Punakha Dzong and Chimi Lakhang on your way to Punakha. Overnight stay in Punakha.
Day-4 : Excursion to Phobjika Valley and Goempa Monastery & Transfer to Bumthang After breakfast, proceed for a visit to the beautiful Phobjika Valley and Goempa Monastery. The Phobjika valley is home to the migration of the Blacked Crane in the months of Winter where the migrant birds a found in large number across the valley floor. Overnight stay in Bumthang.
Day-5 : Bumthang full day sightseeing tour After breakfast, proceed for full day sightseeing tour of Bumthang. This region that spans from 2,600-4,500m is the religious heartland of the nation and home to some of its oldest Buddhist temples and monasteries. Tales of Guru Padmasambhava and the tertons (“religious treasure-discoverers”) still linger in this sacred region. Bumthang Dzongkhag consists of four main valleys Ura, Chumey, Tang and Choekhor. These fertile valleys are covered in fields of buckwheat, rice and potatoes. Apple orchards and dairy farms are also common sights here. This serene region is one of the most peaceful places in the kingdom. Visit to the following places: Kurjey Lhakhang, Jampey Lhakhang, Jakar Dzongs. Overnight stay in Bumthang.
Day-6 : Bumthang to PunakhaAfter breakfast, check out of your hotel & transfer to Punakha. Overnight stay in Punakha.
Day-7 : Punakha to Paro & sightseeing tour of Paro After breakfast, check out of your hotel and proceed to Paro. The Paro valley extends from the confluence of the Paro Chhu and the Wang Chhu rivers at Chuzom upto Mt. Jomolhari at the Tibetan border to the North. This picturesque region is one of the widest valleys in the kingdom and is covered in fertile rice fields and has a beautiful, crystalline river meandering down the valley. After checking into your hotel, you would proceed for a sightseeing tour of Paro which would include the following places: Drukgyel Dzong – Ruins of an old fortress in Paro, Kyichu Lakhang – Famous Monastery in Paro, Ta Dzong – National Musuem of Bhutan. Overnight stay in Paro.
Day-8 : Excursion to Chele La pass After breakfast, proceed for a day excursion to Chele La pass (12,200ft) - The highest motorable point in Bhutan. On a clear day one can get a breathtaking view of Mt.Jhomolhari (23,996 ft the second highest peak of Bhutan) and other Himalayan giants. While Paro Dzong while returning to Paro. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay in Paro.
Day-9 : Excursion to Taktsang MonasteryAfter breakfast visit Taktsang Monastery – a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Overnight stay in Paro
Day-10 : Departure Depart with Happy memories from the Kingdom of Happiness - Bhutan!
